Wilbur Ticker Tape Quilt and Dog Gone Cute blocks from Sew Fresh Quilts |
This year, I had the brilliant idea of having the two dogs pose on quilts of themselves. I thought this would be the best idea ever! Well it had to be as mum refused to lend me back my Lost in London quilt or Red/Black colour block quilt for the photo shoot. When I told her what I had in mind i.e. pets on quilts, she gave me that look and said you're out of your mind if you think I'm letting those dogs on my clean quilts!
So plan B it was and full of enthusiasm, in between showers, we ventured out and attempt number 1 didn't quite go to plan. Realising the grass needed cutting for half decent photos, session 1 turned into lets play while G pretends the lawnmower is nowhere to be found! They had a ball, literally.
Why does Charly have a ball and i don't? |
Throw it! Throw it! Throw it! |
Look at me! |
Zoom! |
Its alright Wilbs you'll get the ball next time! |
He really is on the quilt - well his tail is - that counts right?
Then he had enough and it was belly rub time,
then eat G's nose
or maybe his hand
or wait chase Charly time!
Wilbur you are such a ham!
I had to laugh when reading Yvonne's post about the names they have for their cat Puppy. Wilbur has lots of names. G calls him buddy, I call him Snuffleuffagus, G calls him Heffalump as even if the sofa is half emtpy he has to jump up on you, right at your head to get onto the sofa and across you to the empty bit - bassets are not known for their grace! I admitted to Yvonne, I also call him the Horrible Animal on occasion (if you're wondering why check our this post!)
Now Charly on the other hand is my little pal. G calls her the Rat, I call her Charly Bear! We both call her the Good dog!
She always comes when called and really wants to please you so you can be her slave and throw the ball for her all day long! Still that ball comes in handy as it can be a great bribe to get her to pose.
This is best I could do on the day! So this has to be our entry for Pets on quilts - dog on a quilt!
And then back to play - don't they look so much happier on the grass?
He did eventually get that ball though he looks quite worried about it!
And it didn't last long!
This is the 3rd year we've entered and even though the weather did not co-operate this year we did our very best and linked up at the last minute! Voting starts soon, please keep Wilbur's Tail/Charly in mind for a vote and there are lots of prizes to be had over on Lilypad quilting where you can check out the other entries too!
Things may not have gone as planned.... But those pictures show two very happy dogs who had a fun day with the photo shoot! It was nice to get to know them both a little better and hear about their personalities. And the quilts are all so Dog Gone Cute, too!
ReplyDeleteA tail on the quilt totally counts! I love seeing these two rascals :)
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth! I really love Wilbur and Charly! Wilbur is such a special character! Wilbur's quilt is amazing and I can't wait to see the Dog Gone Cute quilt finished! x Teje
ReplyDeleteWilbur gets a vote for crazy expressions, but Charly has to have two votes for obedience and actually sitting smack bang on the quilt!
ReplyDeleteHahaha Wilbur's face is amazing for expressions, he is so like Hank I love this guy! Dogs must have at least three nicknames, it's the law of dog ownership. Hank has the most in our house and his are Not Gwen (as in "Gwen... Gwen come here....You're not Gwen!", Teeds or Tiny (originally TD, originally Tiny Dog), Captain Caps Lock (an early one, for his penchant of knocking the Caps Lock on), Pup-pup, BD (originally Baby Dog), Sweet, Sweets, Gideon and lately, Seymour Butts. Along with some swearer ones...
ReplyDeleteAnd Spanx- how did I forget Spanx?!
DeleteCharly is so cute just on her back legs in that pic btw :D
I have another nickname for Wilbur Ruth, after seeing his sofa killing escapade. "Wilburforce".... LOL He and Charly are utterly adorable and still act like puppies. Their happiness at being out in the garden with you & G comes through in every photo here. Really these are the best kind of pictures! Wilbur's tail on quilt really cracks me up. And I'll never get tired if your dog pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteI think your photo sessions went beautifully - look how much love and fun Wilbur and Charly get. :) I love all the nicknames that you have for your fur babies, too (it makes me feel much less guilty for all the assorted things we call ours). I think my favorite photo is of Wilbur looking straight up; what a ham.
ReplyDeletethat was adorable!!! I want to come over, and pet them! LeeAnna, alas too far away...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Monkey was very entertained and is already asking to see the silly dogs again.
ReplyDeleteTee Hee - when we don't want them on the quilts, that's where they can be found. Yet, when we want that special pose - NO WAY.
ReplyDeleteI love happy dog pictures, they always bring a smile to my face. :) And a tail totally counts as being on a quilt! Lol.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are wonderful, I can't stop smiling, just like Charlie (he has a great smile). I'm in love with the Wilbur ticker tape quilt, I've always admired the elephant and changing it to Wilbur is such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLove Charly and Wilbur. Both in fur and fabric! I have a feeling that ball means a lot more to Charly than it does Wilbur. Nothing holds a JRT's focus like a round object!
ReplyDeleteOh they are spoilt I hink. and you are by them. So cute. Happy happy days.
ReplyDeleteYour doggies are just too cute! Thanks so sharing such fun pictures.
ReplyDeleteWilbur's concerned face is priceless! And I'm glad you have such a good companion in Charly. Your quilts look wonderful, I'm excited to get started on my Dog Gone Cute here soon. See you at the linky party if not sooner!

I can tell the entire family had a fun time trying to get photos for this post. I'd say a tail on a quilt certainly qualifies. I love the floppy ear photo where Wilbur is running off to chase Charly.
ReplyDeleteAs a "mom" to three pugs I know how hard it is to get photos of them! Loved your post, so funny and so true. This happens to me every year too! Pugs and kisses from Romeo, Elvis and LarryPug
ReplyDeleteLove every single photo in your post, Ruth! Our animals are just the best. They bring SO MUCH joy and goofiness to our lives, don't they? They teach us to relax a little (clearly your mum needs a pet, lol). Love the expressions on Charly's (good dog) face and on Wilbur's (uh-oh) face especially. They are darlings. I have one entry in (ages ago) and still have to snap a couple more shots of Naala (time is running out I know) for my second entry this year. :-)
ReplyDeleteRuth what a fun post!!! I see your pups are very funny! (Love your little doggie quilts too!) I can't wait to start my JRT one!!!
ReplyDeleteReally fun! Looks like your cute pups have so much energy and keep you busy. Love the doggie quilts too!
ReplyDeletehahahaha LOVE! Your pups are the cutest :)
ReplyDeleteCarly and Wilber are so cute!!! They both look like they were having lots of fun! Oh, lol., and your quilts are great too!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and beautiful post to read! I was laughing when you had to settle with Wilber's tail on his quilt! They are quite a pair of cutie pie characters!! Your Dog Gone Cute quilt and Wilber quilt are really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSusie

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun photo shoot!!! Great moments captured to treasure!
ReplyDeleteLoved your interpretation of the dog gone cute pattern. Pawsitively charming!
ReplyDeleteSuch happy pups!! Congratulations on a perfect photo shoot. Love those photos. How do you ever get anything done with them around?! :)
